U.S. Army Corps Proposes
Culvert Changes

The U.S. Army Corps of
Engineers (USACE) Norfolk District is proposing
additional regional conditions to clarify its
interpretation of how to satisfy certain
requirements of Nationwide Permits Nos. 3
(Maintenance), 14 (Linear Transportation Projects)
and 18 (Minor Discharges) when used for projects
that involve stream crossings.

| Fairfax County Resource
Protection Area (RPA) Maps Coming
Soon |
The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors
(BOS) is scheduled to review and approve final
Resource Protection Area (RPA) maps on November
17 at 4:00 p.m. Anyone who owns property that
could be designated as an RPA should look at
these maps.

relatively minor revisions to the Corps' State
Program General Permit (SPGP-01) were announced.

| More State Program General
Permit (SPGP) Changes Expected |
| The Norfolk District's State Program
General Permit 01 (SPGP-01) became effective on
November 1, 2002. When this permit was issued,
the Corps committed to conducting an annual
review of its effectiveness and an evaluation of
the extent of its cumulative impacts.
